PHEASANT & CHUKAR HUNTING WITH POINTER DOG ON PRIVATE RANCH NEAR SACRAMENTO | BIRD CLEANING PROCESS

Invited as a guest of Angler’s Press to hunt pheasants on a 2,100 acre private ranch just north of Sacramento, we met Steve Rambo and his dog Tank, an amazing team working together seamlessly. Steve is a dog trainer as well as the ranch owner and did an excellent job with us shooters. Tank worked tirelessly for nearly three hours and I hope this video shows the importance of a well-trained dog.

PCP AIR GUN TURKEY HUNTING

Pre-charged pneumatic air guns (PCPs) can take down a turkey at 100 yards using cylinders filled with compressed air launching pellets with superb accuracy. In California, air guns can be used for hunting turkeys and varmints. My PCP uses 30 caliber and shoots at 950 feet per second with 46 grain slugs. I talk about the importance of using a rangefinder and shooting stick and why hiding in a ground blind is an advantage. My father taught me how to hunt at an early age and in this video I take my grandson Dylan along to teach him our traditions from where to set up the blind the day before the hunt, how to find the turkeys and then, finally, how to clean and dress the bird. It’s a great way to show a youngster how food gets to the table and to appreciate and respect the bounty that nature provides.
THANKS FOR VISITING!
