LEARN HOW TO CATCH MORE FISH!
TRIP #1: FISH FINDER ELECTRONICS
Get the most out of your electronics by optimizing the correct settings for the types of waters you fish and the specific boat you operate. I’ll check out your transducer placement and make sure it’s installed correctly and help you work out any conflicts between your electronics. I’ll check if your network is setup correctly and whether your units need updating. Then we’ll spend one on one training time teaching you which settings to use in shallow versus deeper waters and how to understand what the graphs are showing. You’ll learn how to find hard and soft terrain and read breaks and contours in relation to where fish hide and ambush.
Or are you considering which technologies are best suited for your type of fishing? Don’t overbuy if you only need a basic setup but certainly don’t underequip your boat if you would greatly benefit from more advanced technologies. I’ll take you on my boat, which is fully kitted out with all the different modalities and show you when I employ each technology and explain why it would or would not be useful for you. My 20’ Ranger bass boat features the full Lowrance fishing system with three HDS units, encompassing 2D Sonar, DownScan, SideScan, Live Imaging Active Target, 360 All Around Imaging and matched with a Ghost Trolling Motor. I work with all the major brands, including Humminbird, Garmin and Lowrance.
RATES: $150/hour, minimum two hours.
TRIP #2: ON THE WATER CONSULTING
Learn techniques specific for your kind of fishing. Knowing your target species and on what body of water, I’ll explain what the fish are looking to eat and where the bait lives and eats and how to draw strikes.
– Do you fish the Delta? Then learn how tidal waters, boat positioning and weather can make or break your trip. Draw on my six decades of experience fishing the local waters extensively.
– Want to catch more bass? Then I’ll show you how to target areas where bass hide and how to read contour maps to position where to best cast and present your lure.
– Want to limit on crappie and stripers? I’ll show how I find these fish and when they are most catchable based on the tides or where they are hiding in lakes.
– New to kokanee or trout fishing? I love chasing these fish and will share my strategies of picking limits up throughout the day with or without downriggers..
– Looking to diversify your techniques? I’ve been in the tackle business for 30 years and I’ll show you how to best use your gear, from explaining how to work your lures for the correct presentation in the water column, how to choose tackle and gear and which weights and colors work and when to make a change.
RATES: $750 for six hours for up to two persons. If the destination is more than an hour away from Sacramento, then an additional travel fee will be incurred.
